Position Summary:


The EHS Specialist promotes environmental stewardship and safe work practices at the site, functional or regional level. Working with local operations, programs, policies and reporting protocols are developed and implemented to ensure compliance to environmental and safety regulations. The EHS Specialist leads or participates on projects to achieve business goals and improve EHS performance. The EHS Specialist may be a generalist or focus on a particular discipline (e.g. employee safety, environmental permitting, chemical reporting, producer responsibility, etc.).

Primary Responsibilities


  • Understand the impacts and compliance strategies of current state and federal environmental, safety and transportation regulations on local operations. Review emerging regulations for potential impacts and propose compliance plans.

  • Serve as a change leader for process modifications or new construction as well as new product development.

  • Maintain current site or local permits including as appropriate air, water, waste/hazardous waste, transportation, storm water, etc.

  • Develop, administer, and implement environmental, safety, and/or transportation related management procedures and training.



Required Skills & Education:



  • B.S. or advanced degree or equivalent experience in environmental or chemical engineering, environmental science or related technical fields.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing safety and/or environmental compliance at an industrial setting or service organization.

  • Demonstrated experience interacting with regulatory agencies.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools with demonstrated proficiencies in Excel spreadsheet applications.

  • Effective written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to work independently & proven proficiencies in project management and problem-solving.


Desired Skills:



  • Knowledge of statistical applications and lean manufacturing desired.

Desired Training


  • Professional Certifications in select disciplines (CIH, CSP, CHMM, etc.)

  • Auditor training
