This position will have various hours during the school day (Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) assisting children while they are learning online and providing recreation and supervision during breaks and afterschool.
Supervises youth age 6-11 and 12-17 in afterschool programs at one of the City's school three school based community centers: Grace Jordan, Morley Nelson, Whitney, Garfield, Hawthorne, Taft and Jefferson. Assists program supervisor and staff in coordinating age-appropriate activities. Ensures the safety and well-being of all community center afterschool participants. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position is open to all interested persons age 16 and older.
This position is designated as At-Will.
Prepares materials and supplies for youth arts and crafts projects and assists participants when necessary. (40%)
Encourages and engages youths in a variety of indoor and outdoor group recreational activities such as basketball, tag, and tetherball. (40%)
Makes sure equipment and supplies are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement. (20%)

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
One year experience volunteering or working with youths and/or teens in a daycare, sports league, afterschool program or similar environment.
Ability to provide basic instruction to youths; participate in mild-to-moderate recreational activities/sports; recognize and redirect misbehavior; interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; work independently with limited supervision; exercise considerable judgment and discretion. (We will add some additional standardized requirements)
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
High school diploma or GED. 2 years experience working with youths or teens as a coach, instructor, teacher's aide, or nanny. City of Boise daycare license. Certified in CPR.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Valid Idaho driver's license
