Job Description:

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Zone API Level II Inspector in Freeport, Texas.

Job Summary:

Provides maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintains and repairs all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection activities in the areas to achieve the GMISS standard and meet with the compliance.

  • Deploy inspection technologies and innovation to support inspection and repair activities in the areas

  • Lead NDT technicians for inspection activities with safe operations and cost effective manners.

  • Attend morning tailgate safety meeting with all API Level II inspection and NDT technicians.

  • Review compliance look-ahead and develop the pre-assessment inspection plan with NDT technicians in the areas.

  • Review all inspection and NDT reports for the completeness meet with professional standard and quality. Sign off on all inspection reports in the areas.

  • Quality assurance for CML / TMLs data, Corrosion Monitoring Report (CMR) to ensure the accuracy in RBI system (GE-APM)

  • Responsible to ensure the completion of compliances for all PCE and piping in the areas

  • Attend Plant Assessment Team (PAT) Meetings and provide technical input on post-assessments and repair plans, if any.

  • Complete repair plans and provide technical input in completing Quality Control (QC) Plans with Plant Assessment Team (PAT)

  • Participate in defining and recommending repair path for deficiency resolution

  • Participate in Turnaround (TA) job and schedule review and execution

  • Provide technical support and solution/trouble shooting for equipment and piping inspection and repair

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in process equipment and piping inspection

  • Have at least two (2) API qualification out of three (3); API-510 (Pressure Vessel), API-570 (Piping Inspection), API-653 (Storage Tank).

  • Be certified as a Level II or higher in at least two of the following NDT disciplines: Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or Radiographic Testing (RT) Film Interpretation.

  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating skills.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements:
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Frequent/occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling of material weighing approximately 55 lbs.

  • Frequent bending and reaching

  • Stand 50% of the time.

  • Walk for extended periods of time

  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.

  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

  • Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. In order to qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional API or American Welding Society (AWS) certifications beyond the minimum requirements.

  • Be pro-active and self-motivated to head off problems associated with plant outages before they occur.


  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
