Local Unit & Position Description



DNV - Digital Solutions is seeking for a Head of Electric Grid Product Centre to join our Software Engineering unit that is responsible for driving the technology strategy for the software business and for developing world class domain heavy software products which are offered in multiple channels. The operating unit consists of six Product Centres worldwide and a shared technical Common Space function. The Product Centres are part of global software product lines headed up by Product Line Directors.


The Electric Grid Product Centre develops complete field and office transmission and distribution asset management and power system planning products, providing both short term tactical reliability solutions and long-term reliability and replacement strategy. The long-term business goal is to establish a leading position as an Asset Performance Management software provider for utility companies worldwide.The Head of Electric Grid Product Centre is responsible for developing and maintaining the software code in a defined portfolio of products, solutions, and APIs according to business requirements set by the Product Line Director. He/she is responsible for executing the technology strategy and the product roadmap for the Product Centre. The Head of Pipeline Product Centre is overall responsible for the continuous delivery of software products, platforms, and solutions, and for contributing to customer success. The Head of Electric Grid Product Centre is also responsible for continuing the cloud transformation, handling the technology dept and for inspiring the teams to develop new competence and find new, agile ways of working in a hybrid operating model. The product centre will serve as the technical hub of knowledge for regional stakeholders as the transformation is carried out on a global scale.


The Head of Electric Grid Product Centre has relevant technology background, experience in leading software engineering teams, as well as relevant domain and industry/customer knowledge.


It is key to have good relationships and facilitate collaboration with other functions, such as the Director of Software Engineering, Software Engineering Common Space, Product Line Director, other Product lines, the Regions, MarCom, Solution Operations, Veracity, and other BAs. The role reports to the Director of Software Engineering and is a member of the Leadership Team.


This position is based out of our Corvallis, OR office. Tasks May Include


  • Drive design, development, and continuous delivery of software products according to approved product roadmaps and business cases
  • Ensure that the continuous delivery follow the DevSecOps principles, including excellent customer engagement, customer support and service level management
  • Execute the technology strategy and reference architecture according to the overall vision and governance model set by the Software Engineering Leadership Team
  • Make use of the knowledge, competence, and technology from the Common Space to realise value synergies and move quicker to the cloud
  • Contribute to overall product line strategies, business modelling and product management, including presales, marketing, legal, pricing, and external training
  • Drive the cloud transformation in the Product Centre, including establishing new, agile ways of working in the SaaS/ hybrid production line with focus on output
  • Develop further the Full Stack Teams and sign the Full Stack Team mandate together with Product Line Director and Director of Software Engineering
  • Foster a 'learn it all' culture with continuous competence development in selected domains
  • Ensure focus on security and quality in all parts of the operation
  • Facilitate collaboration with key functions and stakeholders internally
  • Drive state of art domain development and internal and external technology/R&D partnerships in conjunction with the Product Line Director
  • Enable digital sales and provide relevant telemetry in the products
  • Manage the product centre staff in the day-to-day performance of their job and perform all relevant finance and HR processes according to deadlines set


Main KPIs for the role


  • Achieve the overall, global business goals for the Product Line. Closely linked to that, meet approved budget and business cases for the Product Centre
  • Ability to execute the product roadmap and deliver according to quality (incl. security), scope and time
  • Adoption rate of Common Space
  • Deployment frequency
  • Change volume (the extent to which code is changed versus remaining static in deployments)
  • Lead time from idea initiation through to deployment and production (efficiency of the entire development process)


Position Qualifications




Requirements


  • Bachelor's Computer Science or Software Engineering. Master's preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience leading software teams
  • Preferred professional background in object orientation
  • Be customer centric and have a commercial mindset
  • Great domain and Electric Grid industry knowledge
  • Deep product knowledge
  • Good understanding of software engineering
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to inspire teams to follow a shared vision
  • Able to do effective resource management
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good relational competence - be able to maintain relationships across units, domains and geographies
