POSITION SUMMARY

As Data Science Senior Manager, you are responsible for the Data Science Analytics team within the pharmacy. The team is responsible for developing operational predictive models, project analysis, consolidation and presentation of related information and ad hoc analytical support. The Senior Manager collaborates with stakeholders in the pharmacy operations to ensure the accuracy of model results, variance drivers, and risk mitigation plan.

This is a high visibility role providing counsel to senior leaders and effectively collaborating across the senior leadership team. The position requires excellent leadership skills, the ability to develop effective collaborations across the organization, as well as the analytical expertise to deliver predictive models and recommender applications that are both statistically sound and easily explained.

Primary Functions


  • Lead a team of data science/machine learning advisors responsible for developing machine learning based operational analytics applications for ML modeling and behavioral analytics to improve member experience and retention

  • Understand and navigate the challenges in implementing solutions in the customer, clinical and omni-channel domains within pharmacy operations to create value for the business, clients, customers and providers, and identify critical questions, provide robust solutions and satisfy cross-functional team requirements

  • Analyze member and pharmacy data such as Rx, communications, carrier, delivery, and shipping logistics to build, maintain and improve inbound contact forecasting models

  • Partner with teams across the broader enterprise to understand operational processes and requirements, and to identify opportunities to provide members with a pharmacy experience that is more predictable, simple, and affordable

  • Leverage data and predictive analysis to clearly articulate problems and influence decisions that support the strategic direction

  • Manage the team to query, clean and prepare data, impute missing data values, determine outliers, regularize and normalize data, engineer ML features, and transform data into useful transformations

  • Manage the team to explore and visualize the data using tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau as well as Python libraries including Pandas, Matplotlib, PGMpy, BBNpy

  • Manage end-to-end modeling and solution development life-cycle from requirements gathering, identifying data sources, building ML models, evaluating previous and 3rd party models and documenting the modeling and data processes

  • Communicate key information across the enterprise to build awareness of volume, metrics and significant variations in performance

  • Identify and implement technology to automate and improve the operational process and improve the member experience

Key Qualifications


  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science or related field. Master's/MBA preferred

  • 5+ years of progressive experience as an operations analyst with application development and deployment experience

  • Proven experience in analyzing and modeling sequential data, statistical analysis, and time series models

  • Strong working knowledge of analytical techniques for predictive modeling and data mining

  • Strong analytical and technical skills; previous demonstrated critical thinking

  • Strong leadership skills; previous team leadership experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Hadoop, PySpark, Hive

  • Proficient knowledge of Tableau, SQL, R, Python

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to perform in-depth data analysis and present insights in a clear manner

  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems and make decisions with minimal supervision

  • Ability to prioritize and meet timelines and deadlines

  • Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions

  • Ability to clearly present findings to a diverse audiences with varying levels of technical expertise

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
