Position Overview:

If you answered YES to these questions, then, Speck's Mechanical Design Engineering role may be a perfect fit for you. Speck's Mechanical Design Engineer will be a crucial contributor in our development and engineering team as we continue grow and expand our product offerings. This position will have a mix of new product engineering, sustaining engineering, and innovation projects. The Engineering group works closely with our Design, Marketing, and Operations teams, while partnering with our external supply chain vendors.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical parts/assembly design for high volume consumer electronics devices, accessories, or consumer products desired.

  • Strong 3D CAD / 2D Drawings skills (Pro/E WF5, Creo 5.0 preferred. Solid works is also considered.) Experience in surface creation is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and root cause analysis

  • Able to prepare, read, analyze, and interpret common technical and manufacturing documents.

  • Demonstrated and in depth understanding of design tolerance and dimensioning. A plus to have experience and knowledge regarding integrated electronics.

  • Positive and fun outlook with the ability to meet the needs of an ever changing industry and tight project deadlines

Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with the Product Industrial Design team to determine product styling, design for manufacturability, and user ergonomics.

  • Hands-on Enclosure/Parts mechanical architecture design, analysis, documentation, and functional validation of mechanical components and assemblies for a variety of accessory products.

  • Develop the 3D CAD, files, and 2D documentation to accurately represent Speck Products per our design and development processes.

  • Ensure successful development of production parts with your knowledge, and understanding of materials, part manufacturing methodologies, injection molding, and rapid prototyping methods.

  • Provide expertise on plastic injection molding and rapid prototyping methods.

  • Consult, influence, and negotiate with vendors on project plans, manufacturability, and new product launches.

  • Work with TPE materials, part manufacturing methodologies, and processes.

  • Travel internationally to vendors for new product launches and some sustainment activities. International Travel is required and may be from 10% to 15% of your time.
