Your role: The Director, Supply Chain is a senior leadership position in the Specialty Gas Business Field Integrated Supply Chain (ISC). You will be aligned to Specialty Gas, and will be accountable to develop and execute a global ISC strategy to align and support the Operating plan of the business field. You will facilitate the S&OP process for the business field, striving to meet or exceed Operating Plan Objectives for both volume and revenue, while minimizing ISC costs. To be effective in this position, you must also have a process focus to insure the speed and efficiency of the flow of cash, materials and information.


The Director, Supply Chain will be co-located as part of a manufacturing plant with members of their planning team. The Director, Supply Chain will be engaged in discussions about the 2 to 5 year customer/product strategies which will enable the development of a Supply Chain strategy that considers and addresses the competitive environment, the technology roadmap, external trends in distribution and most importantly customer needs. The Supply Chain strategy will consist of a customer needs analysis, best practice assessment, IT technology roadmap, SWOT analysis, external trend analysis and competitive assessment. The Director, Supply Chain will work with internal resources as well as external contacts to develop this strategy. Projects to improve velocity of the Supply Chain for materials, information flow and cash flow; as well as reduce costs will also be focus areas. You will support the contract management/interactions with our third-party providers by providing a longer-range forecast of requirements.


The Director, Supply Chain will work directly manage a team of Planners including: Supply Network Planners, Demand Planners, and Material Planners. The Supply Network Planner is responsible to manage the Sales & Operations Supply Planning Process with a 3-18 month focus to balance supply and demand, as well as to identify opportunities to optimize the Supply Chain network including targets for lead-times, service levels, and costs while considering the complete value chain for materials assigned. This includes raw materials, returnable packaging components, subassemblies and finished goods. The Demand Planner is accountable for the execution of Demand Planning in Sales & Operations Planning with the goal to continuously improve the accuracy of the volume/revenue forecast. In addition, you will directly manage the Specialty Gas Supply Chain Execution (SCE) team including the Material Planners who manage production scheduling, intercompany orders, cycle counting and procurement activities in their region. The incumbent will be responsible to ensure processes are in place and functioning optimally to support quality and service level requirements. You will work to develop skills of the SCE team and mentor others in the region.



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES




  • Accountable for Network change process execution to introduce new products including Supply Chain Readiness and review as well as the MOCs and approvals required before passing to the Execution Team.

  • Develop inventory policies for the business field to achieve service level requirements while achieving acceptable inventory turns and minimizing obsolescence.

  • Develop lead-time policy for products in business field to achieve desired service levels in particular for new products, while considering postponement strategies for bottleneck resources.

  • Monitor assets in the business including returnable containers to improve turns while achieving desired service levels.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of distribution costs through use of SAP and network models, including P&L, balance sheet and distribution standards. Provide support to business to analyze distribution costs/cost drivers, run scenarios and recommend solutions. Provide input and approval on development of Operating Plan as well as input on monthly variances for aligned cost centers.

  • Analyze expedite costs and root cause to reduce and/or eliminate future expedites. Recommend changes to minimize expenses.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize Supply Chain performance by balancing process robustness and complexity (Active Material numbers and extensions) and coordinate changes with business area to reduce.

  • Review and support analysis of Supply Chain complaints to understand root cause and lead changes to resolve.





  • Minimum Requirements





    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Logistics or other related field

    • Experience managing a Supply Chain team

    • 10+ yrs relevant experience, including 3+ years of experience managing and developing people, as well as collaborative experience, working with a global team.

    • Experience managing and participating in all aspects of Sales & Operations Planning Process

    • Proficiency in SAP, advanced planning systems such as APO, statistical forecasting tools, and formal training in MRP processes

    • Up to 25% travel will be required, both domestic and international (US, Asia, and Europe)




    Preferred Requirements





    • Operational or education in chemicals would be highly preferred.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication, good English skills, as well as to be proficient in the local language.

    • Work effectively with Business Management, Operations, Customer Service, Sourcing, Sales, Marketing and Transportation teams to achieve business goals.

    • Professional certification thru APICS of either CSCP or CPIM is highly beneficial, as well as, Certification in Sales & Operations Planning Process.

    • To be effective in this position the candidate must also have a process focus to insure the speed and efficiency of the flow of cash, materials and information.
