The Data Science Team applies expertise in machine learning, data visualization, statistics, and computational architectures to solve hard research challenges in AI security & privacy, synthetic biology, cyber security, computational social science, code analysis, biometrics, and other areas. We have built systems that summarize source code, predict protein stability, visualize graphs with millions of nodes, and detect stealthy denial-of-service attacks. Responsibilities

As an Associate Research Director, you will co-lead our rapidly expanding Data Science Team and grow our portfolio of externally funded R&D programs. You will lead research programs with clients that include DARPA and other government agencies, publish and present novel technical work, bring in new R&D contracts, and build and direct the team to successfully execute them.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional research experience, preferably demonstrated by relevant publications, patents, prototypes, or presentations
• Past performance as a Principal Investigator or Project Manager on fast-paced, innovation-driven R&D projects for Government clients, especially DARPA
• Deep technical expertise in machine learning, NLP, computational social science, data visualization, optimization, or a related field
• Ability to clearly communicate highly technical material to broad audiences in both written and oral formats
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

• Track record of capturing new Government R&D contracts/programs
• Experience as a line/functional manager for a team of scientists and engineers
• Demonstrable programming experience with python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Graduate degree in CS, Machine Learning, Math, or other relevant field
• Active DoD security clearance.
