Position Summary

PURPOSE:
The Engineer Technician is responsible for directly supporting the engineering team, improve the quality of all castings, & reduce manufacturing costs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Focal person for production finishing operators and supervisors.


• Provide on demand technical assistance for manufacturing operations.


• Provide direction to the relevant engineer for long term improvements.


• Support the creation and improvement of work instructions and procedures as required.


• Support all finishing department throughput as required.


• Work with supervisors and department leads to assess risk to schedule.


• Track the progress of projects throughout the manufacturing process.


• Optimize part level productivity via operator feedback.


• Become familiar with the specific manufacturing process of the product and work to identify and implement cost reduction ideas.


• May be assigned to special cost reduction initiatives as part of a multi-discipline team.


• Create and communicate concepts to the relevant engineer.


• Ensure that all engineering changes are implemented properly.


• Coordinate the design and build of gaging/fixturing/tooling.


• Check production drawings for technical content.


• Make recommendations and offer credible solutions to product, tooling, and processes.


• Critical thinking and communication skills are critical to this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years experience in manufacturing industry preferred


• Knowledge of mechanical, industrial, & materials science
