The Genetic Analyst I is responsible for the analysis of patient data in accordance with laboratory processes, in a high throughput environment. The Genetic Data Analyst I must demonstrate competency, as defined in the department's training program, prior to performing independent work. This position will work with department management and quality team members to ensure that data analysis activities are defined, documented and completed to support inspection readiness and that compliance is maintained through procedures, training, documentation and continuous improvement projects.

Schedule: 4 10 hour shifts; Friday, Saturday or Sunday, & two additional days of your choice; this is a hybrid position it requires a minimum for 2 set days in the office (of your choice), the other days can be worked from home/remote if desired
Responsibilities:
Genetic Data Analyst I

  • Complying with the laboratory's technical, administrative and safety policies and procedures.
  • Participating in the laboratory's quality assurance plan, adhering to quality control and preventive maintenance policies and appropriately documenting these activities.
  • Following the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within acceptable limits and documenting the problem and any corrective action.
  • Troubleshooting and identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or reporting of test results by initiating corrective action and using the defined electronic system to make the required management notification.
  • Performing proficiency testing in the same manner as routine samples.
  • Actively participating in successful and timely completion of training and competency assessment as outlined in the laboratory and departmental training programs.
  • Where competency has not been approved by supervision, will work under the direct supervision of an employee competent on the task.
  • Participating in continuing education according to accepted laboratory standards.
  • Participates in department and cross functional teams to resolve problems or implement projects.

Genetic Data Analyst II

The following responsibility requirements are needed for Data Analyst II in addition to the responsibility requirements listed for Data Analyst I:
  • Can serve as a trainer on technical processes within the group.

Genetic Data Analyst III

The following responsibility requirements are needed for Data Analyst III in addition to the responsibility requirements listed for Data Analyst II:
  • Participates in or leads department and cross functional teams to resolve problems or implement projects.
  • Serve as a trainer on technical processes both within and between groups.


Qualifications
  • Have a doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology or
  • Have an associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology or
  • Have the following education and training requirements:
    • At least 90 semester hours including:
    • 16 semester hours of chemistry including
    • At least 6 semester hours of inorganic chemistry
    • 16 semester hours of biology
    • 3 semester hours of math
  • Have lab training that includes any ONE of the following:
    • Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, CAHEA or other HHS approved organization (this training may be included in the 60 semester hours listed above) or
    • At least 3 months lab training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing or
    • Have previously qualified or could have qualified as a MT on or before 02/28/1992 or
    • On or before 04/24/1995, be a high school graduate or equivalent and have:
    • Graduated from a MT program or
    • Completed a US military MT training course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab technician)
    • Until 09/01/1997:
    • Have high school diploma or equivalent and
    • Have training appropriate for the testing performed.
