Job Description:

Ultra Maritime, Sonobuoy Systems is seeking hire a Program Manager to lead development programs, primarily for government customers. The Program Manager will report to the Director of Programs and be responsible for cost, schedule, and technical performance of assigned programs.

  • Serve as Program Manager for development projects

  • Own profit and loss responsibilities for assigned programs and provides day to day oversight of program and contract execution

  • Lead an Integrated Program Team (IPT) and will be responsible for all aspects of program execution in the develop or manufacture of sensor products

  • Lead development of technical proposals and supporting business development activities

  • Report on project process to the customer Business Area Director

  • Responsible for Cost/Schedule/Technical performance, customer communications, internal department coordination and process adherence

  • Interfaces with Accounting, Business Development, Contracts, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality organizations to ensure projects meet company standards and policies

  • Provides regular presentations to Sonobuoy Systems management on program performance.

Required Skills:


  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U. S. citizens

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, Program/Project Management, or relevant field

  • 7+ years related experience with leading/directing product development teams. Defense industry experience is highly preferred.

  • Active PMP Certification or ability to obtain PMP within one year of start

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Desired Skills:


  • Experience with MS Office products (Excel, Word, and Power Point) as well as MS Project

  • Working knowledge of Earned Value

  • Management of Risk and Opportunities with implementation of mitigation activities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to influence internal & external expectations and clearly & transparently provide an understandable message

  • Experience formulating, following, and improving Program Management policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of sonobuoys and/ underwater acoustics

  • Experience with DOD customers

  • Transition to production and/or production experience is highly desirable.
