ODJFS is seeking qualified individuals to assist with a variety of initiatives to identify and prevent fraud related to the high volume of unemployment claims due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This position is temporary, unclassified, and is not eligible for benefits.
Although categorized as 'part-time', the hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch (40-hours per week). At this time, the schedule is not negotiable.
At this time, this position is working from home although you will initially have to come to an ODJFS facility in Columbus Ohio to pick up equipment and receive initial instructions. In the future, you may be assigned to work in an ODJFS facility rather than work from home.
In order to do this job, you are required to provide your own internet access, due to working from home.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Under managerial direction, integrates data from multiple sources and systems, applies statistical analysis and data visualization techniques to identify data trends and relationships, and recommends actionable business solutions and insights impacting agency goals and objectives:
researches and identifies complex business problems and opportunities
collaborates with business subject matter experts, IT staff, and agency leaders to define priorities, resources, and risks
identifies relevant performance metrics
extracts data from multiple sources and systems (e.g., SQL queries)
identifies and catalogs appropriate data sources (e.g. agency data files; shared data lake; purchased databases)
accesses databases and other source systems
coordinates with business subject matter experts and IT staff in order to ensure validity and completeness of data models and transformations
applies statistical analysis and visualization techniques to identify data trends and relationships
utilizes analytics techniques (e.g. regression; correlation; cluster analysis; classification; data mining; machine learning; data visualization) to discover, confirm, and document associations, predictive models, and algorithms
applies analytical results to address practical business problems and opportunities in a format accessible to non-technical staff and stakeholders
provides guidance to business leaders regarding interpretation and applicability of findings in a business context (e.g., program effectiveness; resource allocation; utilization patterns; fraud detection)
presents summary findings and recommendations to agency leaders
operationalizes analytics processes
collaborates with IT staff to select deployment methods
establishes measurement and reporting of performance metrics
identifies and documents best practices
trains peers and business staff in use of analytics tools and techniques
remains current with relevant innovations and industry direction
collaborates with project managers to develop appropriate method of reporting data
reviews business processes and makes recommendations for process improvements
Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., operates personal computer to produce correspondence, reports, and other documents; provides general clerical assistance; travels to attend training and meetings as required; maintains logs, records, and files).
Candidate must have the following minimum qualifications. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the application.
Completion of graduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field
AND 12 months experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
OR
Completion of undergraduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field
AND 24 months experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
OR
Completion of associate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field
AND 30 months experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
OR
48 months experience in data analytics or statistical analysis.
OR
Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Training or experience in working with Structured Query Language (SQL) including running queries, building data warehouses, building or running ETL packages, report creation, and using a variety of Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
