BASIC FUNCTION:  Oversees the delivery of high-quality nursing services at all St. Paul’s communities and PACE service locations.  Develops strong infection control protocols and oversees their implementation. Supports the development and implementation of strong clinical quality assurance/quality improvement programs. Coordinates and oversees required training for nursing staff and provides some training for nurse leadership and other nursing personnel. Establishes and facilitates an organization-wide nursing Leadership Council, driving corporate nursing standards, policies and practices.



 



ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



 



Staff Training




  • Acts as support and mentor to clinical staff, and Senior SPSS leadership.


  • Maintains current clinical knowledge and best practices for dissemination throughout the organization.


  • Reviews and makes recommendations for required staff development activity as required by Title 22 to all SPSS facilities and communities


  • Designs and provides or ensures the provision of education and training to enhance the skills of nursing and CNA staff, and all support staff as needed including CPR and First Aid training.


 



Quality Improvement




  • Serves as the clinical lead in an emergency resulting from a pandemic or similar situation impacting the health and safety of the one area, or the entire Organization. 


  • Works with the Clinical teams in each facility to implement and monitor processes to identify risk areas and promote continuous clinical quality improvement.


  • In consultation with the Medical Directors and Directors of Nursing/Clinic RNs, provides clinical expertise and consultation for complex clinical residents and participants.


    



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a current license in the State of California as a Registered Nurse, or equivalent education and training.  Advanced Practice  preferred. Must have a current CPR card.  Must be accredited by the State of California to conduct orientation and in-service programs, or be willing to become accredited.  Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to read, write and speak fluently the English language. At least three years related experience including direct care or the chronically ill and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Recommend one year of DSD experience.  Must have an understanding of Title 22, federal and local regulations pertaining to health and safety issues.  Must have, or be eligible to receive, a DSD certification from the State of California.
