Overview:

The recruiter in the human resources department provides sourcing, interviews, recruitment, job offers, coordination of new hire paperwork, maintain databases and act as a liaison between hiring managers and candidates. Recruiters interpret compensation, benefits, job descriptions, and position requirements to applicants. Assist in the development and implementation of human resource policies, procedures, strategies and planning. Recruiters attend recruitment events on- and off-campus, representing Mercy. Is able to work independently, exhibit a professional appearance, make decisions and support all team members. Assists Department Directors with co-worker issues and policy questions in the absence of the HR Director. Assists co-workers with any and all HR-related questions.

Coordinates recruitment and retention for all assigned positions:


  1. Assures compliance with state and federal laws pertaining to equal employment and fair wage and hour laws.

  2. Utilizes various sources to obtain applicants such as newspaper ads,on-line advertising, school placement services, state employment office, etc.

  3. Actively seeks and hires qualified applicants to fill underserces areas of minorities.

  4. Collaborates with department leaders and MarComm to developrecruitment materials.

  5. Meets regularly with recruitment team and department leaders to plan and review recruitment and retention issues and employment trends.

Employ qualified candidates:


  1. Assure compliance with Mercy recruitment policies.

  2. Conducts initial screening or follow-up interviews.

  3. May utilize various assessments to select most qualified candidates.

  4. Advises interviewing applicants of career opportunities, benefits, policies, salary,on-boarding processes and Mercy's Mission.

  5. Offers position to successful candidate and informs of salary.

  6. Assures unsuccessful applicants are notified timely.

Promotes effective communication and standardized Human Resource policy interpretation:


  1. Acts as aliaison between Human Resource department and other departments withrecruitment issues.

  2. Provides direction on transfer, promotions and demotions.

  3. Provides career counseling as appropriate.

Coordinates recruitment ofhealth-care students; to include interns, extern's, scholarship participants and all otherhealth-care staff, in line with budget:


  1. Develop and participate in student recruitment programs. (i.e. intern, extern, scholarship, hiring events)

  2. Develops relationships with professionalhealth-care education programs. May meet withstudents rotating through on clinical experiences and/or coordinate periodic visits to professional programs.

Represent Mercy in the community:


  1. Create and develop relationships with outside agencies, vo-techs, colleges or universities to enhance placement of qualified applicants.

  2. Attends appropriate career fairs representing Mercy on an on-going basis.

  3. Provides education or community service opportunities when requested.

Assist in various projects as directed:


  1. Review job description at least annually to insure they are current with job requirements.

  2. Assist withmaintenance of current human resources policies.

  3. Completespecial assignments as requested.


Qualifications:



  • Experience: 3 years experience.


  • Required Education: BS Degree required or equivalent experience.


  • Preferred Education: Associate/Bachelor Degree.


  • Other: Proficient in Microsoft, excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, ability to work in team environment, handle confidential information and ability to relate with diverse population with varying socio-economics backgrounds. Analyzes data/problems/issues and recommends improvements based on data results/best practices.
