Knowledge Based Designer at Daikin Applied

Job Description:

The KBE (Knowledge Based Engineering) Analyst writes product configuration logic requiring the application of a variety of standardized coding techniques. Prepares complex part and assembly models for automation. Support engineering product development and production sustaining maintenance through the formal engineering change process. Directions will be given by senior personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Creates engineering configuration logic including CAD automation (SolidWorks), bill of material generation, and other automated product data that conform to Daikin Applied standards.
  • Exhibit basic sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
  • Complete work assignments within determined time frame.
  • Have a basic understanding of manufacturing practices and processes.
  • Show proficiency in working with CAD (SolidWorks)
  • Be part of and function in a team environment.
  • Work independently with guidance from senior programmers.

  • 2 year Vocational/Technical Drafting Certificate or A.A.S. degree in CAD (SolidWorks)
  • 3 - 5 years related drafting and/or product configuration experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to understand logic formulas, syntax, and basic programming concepts
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software; Development software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
