Primary Function of Position:

The Director, Business Operations reports to the SVP Corp Dev & Strategy and is part of the Future Forward (FF) Senior Leadership team (FFSLT). This role is a key leadership role contributing, advising and driving key initiatives for optimal operations within the FF organization. In addition, this individual will act as a key FF liaison for the SVP and FF team, to organize, coordinate, and oversee the execution of strategic operational FF programs across Intuitive. Key responsibilities include contributing to the overall strategic direction of the FF team, maintaining goal status, driving project schedules, leading and monitoring annual project budgets and owning team communication and messaging cross-functionally.

Key success attributes in this key leadership role, include strong business acumen, communication skills, ability to build relationships at all levels, attention to detail, project management and strong investigative skills.

Role and Responsibilities:


  • Participates in the creation of key strategic priorities and translating them into a comprehensive strategic plan, milestones along with synergistic road maps
  • Collaborates with the SVP and FF team in identifying areas of improvements within the business and providing possible solutions to address.
  • Sources and synthesizes research and analytics to assist the SVP and FFSLT in gaining insights, which will help in decision-making process. Look for tactical opportunities to gain efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Gather, out-line and prioritize issues identified by the SVP and FFSLT and works with key stakeholders to recommend potential options to help resolve program, project, or process issues.
  • Coordinates and/or facilitates meetings, event, and strategic activities involving SVP and their respective teams.
  • Assists in project management by providing the SVP and leadership team with coordination and facilitation of project scheduling. The individual will maintain yearly BU calendars, coordinate efforts across functional teams, and facilitate prioritization to bring a project to fruition.
  • Communicates directly and on behalf of the SVP on matters related to programmatic initiatives, meetings, and strategic activities as directed.
  • Assist in program and project management by providing the SVP and FFSLT with coordination and facilitation of project scheduling. This role will help maintain project calendars, budgets, coordinate efforts across functional teams, and facilitate prioritization to bring ensure successful achievement of the program/project.
  • Prepare an account of meetings, designates, and follows up on assigned action items.
  • As directed by the SVP, key liaison with Sunnyvale functional departments on cross-functional projects and initiatives

  • Expert project manager, with focus on continuous improvement, with ability to identify and solve process issues when they arise,
  • Ability to identify, lead and adjust to multiple tasks and demands while constantly shifting priorities under tight deadlines and time constraints
  • Strong data analysis and strategic skills in order to use data and facts to prepare materials and to support recommendations that are grounded on facts,
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills
  • The ability to attend ad-hoc meetings in a delegated capacity of the GM/VP/SVP to act for FF team to collect and relay information back to leaders
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functional departments
  • Effective, versatile and action-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and with professional discretion
  • Excellent management, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle ambiguity effectively and oversee multiple projects at once

  • strong technical background, knowledge of engineering, product strategy and business management
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize data, set actionable goals and drive metrics and execution
  • Impeccable managerial and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, technical/science related field emphasis preferrable; MBA preferred
  • Previous experience working in healthcare, medical device or pharma or other regulated environment is preferred
  • Minimum 8 years executive-level experience in strategy, analytics, business or related
  • Experience in working with senior leaders, executives in similar operations leadership capacity,
  • Previous experience working with HQ functional leaders
  • Solid experience in a project management or program management role
  • Experience working on a global team
  • Experience with organizational change
  • 15% Travel (both domestic and intl)
