The HORNE Learning & Organization Development Specialist is responsible for partnering with internal and external clients to create and execute learning and development solutions that meet their needs, align with business goals, and surpass expectations.


This includes consulting to clarify needs, identifying and creating appropriate solutions, and implementing solutions based on input and direction from multiple stakeholders. The Learning and Organizational Development Specialist will also stay up to date on the latest learning and development trends in order to be viewed as subject matter expert and offer new and creative ways to solve our clients’ biggest needs.


Key Responsibilities


The Learning and Development job duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Collaborates to design, develop, and deliver scalable learning and development solutions.

  • Applies technologies such as eLearning, videos, podcasts, mobile learning, and social learning as appropriate to the learner experience.

  • Delivers training and facilitates enterprise-wide and focus area programs.

  • Creates (or selects) appropriate teaching aids and learning materials to support standard and customized programs to meet business and client needs.

  • Understands and applies adult learning best practices and technologies in a practical and effective way.

  • Collects assessment and client feedback data; analyzes with team to determine effectiveness of learning and development solutions; uses feedback and evaluation data to improve programs and offerings.

  • Applies continuous improvement processes to ensure quality learning and development interventions and services based on evaluation, feedback, and business needs.

  • Proactively communicates about learnings, development offerings, and opportunities.

  • Project manages multiple learning priorities and initiatives for various workstreams. 

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities



  • Proven experience delivering learning programs and facilitating basic organization development practices tied to business objectives.

  • Ability to access, research, and recommend client solutions and to lead and own the complete life cycle of a learning program.

  • Ability to coach program participants when needed or facilitate a team intervention to improve effectiveness.

  • Ability give and receive feedback in a manner consistent with our culture.

  • Demonstrated basic consultative skills, able to clarify complex requests and directions with internal and/or external clients.

  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work with diverse audiences, consider multiple perspectives, and influence outcomes. Skills to constructively manage conflict.

  • Must be able to create project plans, work within scope, and manage multiple priorities and client expectations to meet program objectives.

  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to translate complex concepts and problems into verbal and written presentations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of virtual classroom technology and the ability to learn other required software programs.

  • Ability to connect with clients and set and maintain clear expectations of the scope of the learning program.

  • Ability to write learning content and communications to market learning programs (advanced writing, grammar, and communication skills).

Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Development, Organizational Development, or related field or four years of additional experience as a practitioner is required.

  • 3-5 years of learning and organizational development related experience in multi-site, geographically dispersed organization.

  • Prior external and/or internal consulting experience or professional development/training or HR experience, individual assessment, engagement, measurement and analysis background is highly preferred.

  • Travel required as needed up to 25%.

Preferred and Additional Considerations



  • Master's Degree in related field.

  • Certifications in leadership development/training, coaching, change, individual and organizational assessment, and other related programs.

Ability to speak fluent Spanish a plus.
