Job Description:

This position is responsible for leading IIE's program development efforts for new and existing sponsors within corporate, foundation, foreign government, and academic institutions. The position serves as proposal technical lead on large, complex, and high priority bid opportunities and proposal development. The position is also responsible for tracking assigned opportunities and developing compelling program designs that showcase IIE's competitive advantage while meeting Sponsor requirements. Serves as a key IIE resource for program development and represents the institute as a subject matter expert.

Essential Functions:


  • Serves as lead writer gathering and integrating information and ideas on assigned business development opportunities.
  • Leads design and strategy development for assigned proposal opportunities, including working with the pricing team to develop budgets.
  • Establishes and cultivates relationships with existing and potential sponsors.
  • Conducts general market research on potential sponsors, competitors, and partners.
  • Prepares and conducts marketing and promotional pitches.
  • Compiles and integrates feedback from reviewers into pitches and proposal.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:


  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
  • Requires at least five years of related work experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive experience developing and delivering pitch presentations and leading and writing concepts and proposals that have led to new business with corporate, foundation, foreign government and/or academic institution sponsors.
  • Exceptional writing, public speaking, networking, and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple projects at on time and work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to gather information and ideas from a range of sources inside and outside of IIE and integrate information and ideas into a cohesive pitch, concept, or proposal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional proposal teams.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate, foundation, and/or foreign government funding environment and trends.
