The R&D Discovery and Technology Futures group is seeking a highly motivated senior scientist with exceptional next generation sequencing (NGS) and CRISPR technology skills to join Genomics division, which is at the fore front of innovating the next generation of IDEXX products. The successful candidate will be energetic, inquisitive, and excel in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced scientists at the MS and PhD levels to support genomics projects in discovery and molecular assay development. The successful candidate will be responsible for building NGS workflows that include preparation of sequencing libraries (like Illumina, PacBio), process and analyze sequencing data. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in CRISPR genome-editing and epigenetics related to chromatin modifications.

What you can expect:

• Effectively optimize and troubleshoot NGS library preparation and sequencing workflows, upstream data processing to ensure high level of quality and reliability of generated results.




• Develop protocols and prepare DNA and RNA-sequencing libraries (for platforms such as Illumina) from low and standard quantities of DNA and RNA.




• Able to process and analyze high volumes of sequencing data by performing quality control, statistical tests, clustering, modeling, and data visualization, using bash and R scripts.




• Perform cluster computing to enhance data processing speed.




• To visualize genomic data as meta-gene profiles and as enrichment tracks on genome browsers.




• Build and engineer CRISPR genome-editing tools.




• Perform epigenetics-based analyses to assess chromatin modification via employing techniques such as Chromatin-immunoprecipitation (ChIP)-sequencing, ChIP-qPCR and immunohistochemistry.




• Design and generate plasmids for engineering CRISPR tools using gateway and traditional cloning.

What you need to succeed:

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.




• Hands-on experience with NGS assay development, validation, sample processing, library preparation and sequencing experience




• Knowledge of different NGS platforms (DNA and RNA Sequencing, targeted DNA and RNASeq, amplicon-based sequencing, ChIP-Seq, Single cell sequencing and or other NGS assays)




• Expertise in preparation of DNA, RNA sequencing libraries (for platforms such as Illumina, PacBio).




• Prepare small RNA-sequencing libraries (for Illumina) using size-selection by PAGE.




• Ability to process sequencing data that includes quality control, read mapping, estimating transcript abundance using pipelines in bash and R scripts.




• Possess an advanced knowledge of sequencing data analysis and visualization in R, such as dimensionality reduction, sample/gene clustering, correlation, data transformations, and statistical tests.




• Analyze sequencing data from publicly available databases like NCBI's Sequencing Read Archive.




• Experience with python3 programming language is a plus




• Well versed in applying epigenetics-based techniques and analyses such as ChIP-Seq and ChIP-PCR to identify chromatin modifications.




• Experience with a broad range of molecular biology and analytical techniques (nucleic acid extraction and quality control, PCR, real-time PCR, primer design, gene cloning, western plot and immunohistochemistry)
