POSITION SUMMARY:  Assist lead scientists in completion of testing, formulation development, data collection and data interpretation.  Plan and safely conduct experiments to obtain the required information or data.  Responsible for planning of activity, reporting of data, and written documentation of experiment activity and results, including data analysis.   Position is at the Research center of an industry leader in the manufacture of construction materials.  

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Role will include safe operation of laboratory equipment and power tools as needed to make, prepare, and test samples.   Also includes ordering general lab materials and supplies and perform routine maintenance of lab equipment, including calibrations.   Some light construction and hands on application of products may be required.   Some travel may be required.

 

Education and Related Experience

• BS degree in scientific field including engineering, chemistry, physics or related 


• Familiar with basics of project management


• Proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

• Solid data interpretation and scientific reasoning skills.


• Clear and accurate written documentation as well as very good verbal communication skills


• Ability to work safely in lab. 


• Experience with power tools including drill, table saw. 


• 50 lb. lifting requirement.  

Preferred:

• Forklift skills.


• Applicable trade knowledge


• Applicable work experience
