New England Biolabs (NEB) is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Production Engineer in laboratories equipped with cutting edge technologies. The successful candidate will support liquid chromatography systems and associated hardware in a fast paced and dynamic environment. NEB has a strong environmental focus and relies on the cooperative interaction of a motivated workforce for its success. NEB headquarters are located in a beautiful estate setting, LEED certified building north of Boston.
Primary Responsibilities:
Pack and qualify a wide array of different size and types of chromatography columns, from lab scale to pilot scale
Troubleshoot and maintain Cytiva AKTA purification and filtration systems at multiple sites
Write, test, and deploy Unicorn programs for all AKTA platforms as well as train users
General lab instrument and software troubleshooting
Assist users with purification issues relating to runs, hardware, columns, and programing
Work closely with IT and Facilities to support equipment needs
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in biological or engineering related discipline
Minimum of 2 years relevant professional experience
Exceptional attention to detail and passion for problem solving with a developed sense of ownership and responsibility.
Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electronic, software/computer systems and fluid handling systems
Excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to multitask
Strong Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and basic networking
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Chromatography column packing and qualification.
Hands on experience with Cytiva Unicorn software
Hands on experience with downstream processing equipment and protocols including sanitization, troubleshooting, and manufacturing operations
Working knowledge of upstream/downstream processing equipment and technologies a plus
Knowledge of SAP is preferred
