JOB PURPOSE: Primary responsibilities include offering support to mechanics in diesel automotive repair shops by directly helping with repairs and maintenance related tasks. This role provides an excellent starting point for new mechanics to gain familiarity with repair and maintenance processes and best practices while working directly under the supervision of more experienced professionals.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following but not limited to:
Assist Mechanic in maintaining Airgas Priority Nitrogen mobile highway and pumping equipment to DOT standards
Assist Mechanic in ensuring brake pads and drums are within DOT and manufacturer specifications and that the brakes are adjusted properly
Perform visual inspection on equipment in the district yard on a daily basis
Perform routine preventative maintenance as per established guidelines set out in the Airgas Priority Nitrogen maintenance schedule
Assist in the performance of mechanical repairs as needed.
Travel as required to repair pumping equipment on work sites and district shops to assist in maintaining equipment
Report equipment mileage and hours of service to equipment manager
Assist as required with daily yard work
Maintain shop and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
Perform additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or Experience:
6 months of automotive maintenance/ mechanical experience
Experience with a variety of hand, power tools and equipment
Proficient in gasoline engine mechanics and preventative maintenance
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Shop setting with 85% of the time within an unconditioned work space (i.e. warm in summer, cool in winter).

Hazards required the use of personal protective equipment (i.e. hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes).
Will be exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts.
