Sales Agronomist

Location: Owensville, IN

Job Summary:

The Agronomy Sales Specialist will promote the proper use of crop protection products, plant food, seed and other products and services to area producers by building customer relationships that help grow agronomy sales.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Builds and maintains a relationship with customers through outstanding customer service.

• Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.

• Communicates with customers to identify and understand their service needs; identifies and suggests products and services to meet those needs.

• Develop annual programs that include soil testing, field mapping, product recommendations, timely and accurate application, field monitoring as needed, record keeping and ongoing communication to ensure customer satisfaction or resolve any issues that may arise.

• Routinely communicates with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products or services, to develop individual customer sales strategies. Including, but not limited to, seed, fertilizer, crop protection and other products and services.

• Works with the Precision Ag Department to interpret soil sample results and make fertilizer application recommendations.

• Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.

• Provides periodic territory sales forecasts as requested by the Agronomy Sales Manager.

• Adheres to cooperative pricing and credit terms.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, volumes, etc.

• Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and/or geometry.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Agri-Business, or related field OR

• At least three years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Must be able to lift/and or move up to 100 pounds at times.

• Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel or crouch.
