The Physical Security Systems Specialist will serve in a critical role on the expanding Illumina Global Security Team, providing broad support to the team and helping to coordinate programs and projects across the security continuum.
This role can be based at Illumina Headquarters in San Diego, California, or possibly remote; the scope of the position is both site specific and also global in nature at times. The Physical Security Systems Specialist will report to the Global Security Systems Supervisor and will focus on developing and streamlining internal processes while collaborating closely with stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a high-energy team player who is eager to learn and develop, able to support multiple teams within the Security organization. Optimism, a desire to contribute, strong cross-functional collaboration, and project coordination skills are a must. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, the ability to work in a matrixed environment, and a results-oriented perspective.
Responsibilities
Contribute to global, scalable processes to mature the security systems infrastructure of the company
Develop Standard Operating Procedures, manuals, and other documents as needed. Identify storage location and maintenance/updates/review schedules
Provide Tier 2 Security System support for ongoing maintenance and service calls within assigned region
Coordinate, plan, and execute internal project tasks, following project guidelines and providing deliverables as required
Liaise with stakeholder teams to address tactical items to include special access requests, new hire processes, parking requests, etc
Conduct projects within prescribed budget and scope. Emphasis of projects will be on in-region Global Real Estate and Contruction initiated new builds and improvements, and site requested moves/adds/changes
Provide expertise to relay security systems technical requirements to internal and external IT stakeholders
Act as point of contact for vendors when scoping new projects, coordinating schedules for on-site activities, and responsible for confirming quality of work and scope fulfilled prior to closeout
Coordinate repair & maintenance budget within region with guidance from leadership as needed
Monitor operational trends using metrics (e.g. budget, break/fix tracker, ServiceNow, and Incident Report investigations) to identify gaps and recommend process improvements
Contribute to the development of security systems analytics to provide senior leadership with digestible and actionable data
Provides subject matter expertise on system capabilities to conform to requirements as dictated by InfoSec, Human Resources, and EH&S in the handling of proprietary and/or sensitive data and the selection of hardware to be deployed and managed within the enterprise environment
Ensure implementations meet certification requirements as dictated by relevant business units (ISO/HIPPA/GDPR)
Required Qualifications:
2-4 years working in the security services industry
3+ years’ experience in project and program coordination
2-year degree and/or technical certification; equivalent work experience
Working understanding of IT systems and/or network infrastructure
Tactical experience with security technology hardware
Computer literate with proficiency in Word and Excel
Exceptionally dependable/reliable/punctual
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Highly detail oriented with a strong sense of urgency
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work rotating and non-traditional hours as needed (evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays)
Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
Ability to work flexible and extended hours as needed (must be able to continue work until relieved)
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience administering enterprise security systems (Lenel, Milestone, Genetec, etc.)
Lenel Certified Associate (LCA) or equivalent
Milestone Technical Configuration Level 1 or equivalent
Familiarity with project management tools, such as Asana, Jira, Confluence
An understanding of database structure and administration
Knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure
