The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking qualified individuals to fill a Utility Support Worker I position in our Support Services Department. The Utility Support Worker I performs basic traffic control set-up and traffic control/work zone flagging. They are also responsible for maintenance, general labor functions in EWEB’s Water and Electric Systems and operates utility service vehicles and other construction equipment as required.
Additional duties include delivering equipment, tools, or materials to job sites. Performing minor maintenance and repair on tools and equipment. Performing a variety of construction and maintenance tasks such as brush clearing, cleaning construction sites, hauling and spreading gravel, shoveling, raking, operating electronic locating equipment, and other general labor activities as needed.

In addition to the regular Utility Support Worker positions EWEB is also hiring four Limited Duration Utility Support Workers. Limited Duration assignments are for a minimum of six months and can last up to three years. This Limited Duration assignment is anticipated to last the full three years. Limited Duration employees receive full EWEB benefits.
The starting salary for this position is commensurate with knowledge, skills, education, and experience as it relates to the position. The wage scale for the Utility Support Worker I is $19.30 to $21.45 per hour.
This position is subject to the terms, conditions and benefits of EWEB's collective bargaining agreement with IBEW Local 659.
Minimum Training and Experience Required
Minimum Experience: Six months experience working outdoors in all weather conditions, preferably in construction or roadway/traffic control environment.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid driver license: Yes. Class A CDL, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
Professional license or registration: Obtain Traffic Control Flagger Certification within 2 weeks of hire.
Post-offer background check required: Yes
Post-offer drug test required: Yes
Post-offer physical / functional test required: Yes
Apprenticeship or other education/training required as a condition of employment, progression or advancement: Obtain a First Aid/CPR card within 12 months of hire.
