Description:

    The Wellness Center Fitness Assistant functions as a member of the Wellness Center staff under the supervision of the Wellness Center Fitness Supervisor and Wellness Center Manager. The Fitness Assistant supports fitness programming consistent with Participant Fitness Plans under the direction of the Fitness Center Supervisor.Ensures that all participants using the Fitness Center are checked in and out. Implements prescribed fitness programs under the supervision of the Wellness Center Fitness Coordinator.The Fitness assistant demonstrates the ability to safely set up and instruct participants in the use of all Fitness Center equipment.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


    • Follows maintenance and cleaning schedule. Reports any faulty equipment or safety concerns promptly.

    • Correctly and safely supervises participants during gait, standing and transfer activities.

    • Utilizes principles of good body mechanics.

    • Applies universal precautions when handling bodily fluids.

    • Demonstrates proper hand washing techniques.

    • Responds to medical emergencies in accordance with policy, procedure and training.

    • Displays initiative and creativity in assisting participants to meet personal fitness goals.

    Qualifications and Requirements:


    • High school graduate or equivalency required.

    • CPR BLS required.

    • CNA/HHA preferred.

    • A minimum of one year experience working with a frail or elderly population.

    • Excellent customer service and communication skills; bilingual a plus.

    • Flexibility, initiative, creativity and organizational skills.

    • Physical capability to provide ADL, mobility, exercise and other assistance to all ESP participants.Basic computer skills and ability to learn and efficiently utilize job-related software and computer systems
