The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a(n) Maintenance Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Know, apply and can evaluate the purpose, operating principles and design limitations of machine tools and machine tool accessories.


• Read and interpret detailed prints, and sketches to layout work, select proper machine tools and accessories to fabricate parts and/or to accomplish specified work to the indicated accuracy.


• Fit fabricated parts and do custom assembly work such as bearing and roll assembly, machine alignment and leveling, motor and gear reducer mounting and alignment, adjust and set clearances on clutches, gears, coating bars, rolls and similar devices using machine tools.


• Use machine tool accessories such as angle plates, arbors, boring heads, centers, chucks, clamps, digital readouts, dividing heads, hold-downs, parallels, rotary tables, steady rests, tail stocks, V-blocks, vises and similar machine tool accessories.


• Maintain a clean and organized work center and work in a safe manner

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Possess a High School Diploma or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Two (2) years Maintenance-related experience and/or directly related training in a manufacturing facility required in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• MES and or SAP experience


• Successful completion of the Maintenance Selection Test Battery.
