Global Nursing Project Coordinator at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Job Description:

TheDepartment of Global Pediatric Medicine(GPM) is a new and growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the mission oftaking St. Jude to the worldby training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research.


Working under the direction of the Global Nursing Director, the Project Coordinator will work closely with partners assist in designing and implementation of initiatives to enhance quality outcomes for children and adolescents with cancer in countries across the world, specifically in our established regions: Asia Pacific, China, Eastern Mediterranean, Eurasia, Mexico, Sub-Sahara Africa, and Central/South America.

Job responsibilities include:


  • Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary regional health team to achieve St. Jude's global mission to improve pediatric cancer outcomes through capacity building, education, and research, in nursing

  • Developing, Implementing, evaluating, and monitoring initiatives and programs at St. Jude Global sites

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating culturally sensitive nursing education curricula

  • Creating culturally adapted policies and guidelines according to best practices in pediatric oncology nursing care

  • Coordinating online and in-person education, utilizing innovative educational methods and technologies

  • Coordinating local, national, and international nursing conferences, workshops and activities

  • Working collaboratively with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Department of Nursing Education

  • Collaborating with universities and organizations to promote quality education standards

  • Fostering the professional development of pediatric oncology nurse educators, leaders, and frontline nurses at St. Jude Global sites

  • Working collaboratively to disseminate work through professional presentations and publications

* Bachelor's degree in related field is required; Nursing, Public Health, or related field is preferred
* Master's degree is preferred



  • Three (3) years of experience and expertise in complex project managementpreferably in health related and resource-limited (low- and middle-income country) settings

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook Calendar tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

  • Five (5) years of experience in nursing, nursing education, and/or research preferred

  • Must have experience leading multi-sector stakeholders in implementation efforts

  • Must have demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives

  • Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating education programs strongly preferred

  • Pediatric hematology/oncology nursing experience strongly preferred

  • Fluency in second language strongly preferred

  • Experience working in culturally diverse settings and countries preferred

  • Understanding/knowledge of and sensitivity to other cultures

  • Strong teaching skills and administrative experience in health care

  • Analytical ability to create and analyze statistical data and various reports

  • Knowledge of current practices and educational standards for clinical staff in the U.S. and internationally

  • International travel and attendance of off-hour meetings required

Skills and Abilities:


  • Language skills in one of the other 5 WHO official languages in addition to English an asset

  • Familiarity with general medical/health services terminology a must

  • Clinical/health background preferred

  • Excellent PC skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Products, Reference management software) with ability to create reports and presentations is required

  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate meetings across different time zones

  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Experience with quality improvement is a plus

  • Strong communication and analytic skills

  • Experience in the international and health care setting

  • Adaptable problem-solving skills, able to analyze and synthesize new information quickly

  • Cultural sensitivity is a must



* Nursing education certification within two years of hire is preferred
