Masterack Estimator will provide cost estimates for new products and support development of prices for customer orders. They create and refine cost models and labor estimates and compile total cost estimates. They will work with purchasing to specify and source raw materials and purchased components to support projects. Estimators support the entire range of products for Masterack including contract manufacturing and fleet upfitting packages. Upon receipt of orders from these estimates, Masterack Estimator performs full contract reviews to ensure alignment between estimates and orders, and address any differences. They follow up as appropriate throughout the process of manufacture. Estimators will generally review cost performance against estimates and adjust as appropriate for future alignment and estimate accuracy. Estimators regularly interact with Customers, Sales, Engineering, and Purchasing departments.
Essential Functions:
Fosters an environment that enables customer satisfaction both internally and externally.
Provide special costing responses to meet customer demand for products not offered as standard.
Communicate with customers, suppliers and team members to manage data required to comply with special costing requests.
Review and maintain corporate costing files, maintaining accuracy.
Monitor market trends for new components and/or new suppliers to improve customer product offerings.
Use the specifications provided by Sales or the customer to define the requirements for a particular job and determine material and labor cost estimates so that pricing can be quoted per our quoting parameters; complete all sections of the quote detail to ensure data is available if the quote becomes an order.
Complete all quote tracking logs so that historical data is available and orders can be properly scheduled.
Complete quotes in a timely manner, and notify the sales representative if delays occur while completing the quote.
As orders are received against quotes, work with Planning to get the job scheduled and agree on the expected shipping date.
Contact customers to provide value engineering and specification alignment assistance.
Request support from Engineering, Purchasing, or Operations if additional insight is required.
Completes ESRs (Engineering Service Requests) and releases projects according to department processes and procedures. Collaborates with engineers and persons outside the department as needed to ensure the complete and on-time release of all assigned projects.
Suggests, participates, and supports continuous improvement activities.
Assists other departments with drawing and specification requests as needed.
Handles other essential tasks as assigned.
Job Skills:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with proficient Excel skills including ability to trace formulas throughout spreadsheet, create formulas such as VLOOKUP, create and use pivot tables.
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication manufacturing process and materials.
Working knowledge of bills of material and engineering change notice procedures.
Ability to effectively manage electronic documentation according to rigid procedural standards.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at a time.
