Job Description:

1.Job Purpose:

The SAS Programmer Manager is responsible for SAS programming on clinical studies. 

Act as Lead SAS Programmer on individual studies and support the Program Lead SAS Programmer across related studies and for integrated summaries within a program.

2.Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


  • Act as a Lead SAS Programmer on study teams, managing your time so as to provide timely input.

  • SAS programming to support the statistical reporting, including production of listings, tables and figures, for Phase I to IV clinical studies and pharmacovigilance data.

  • Oversee and review programming activities and tasks performed by CROs, including but not limited to QC of key outputs and review/validation of CDISC deliverables.

  • Support Program Lead SAS Programmer and act as a Lead SAS Programmers on clinical studies.

  • May act as a deputy for the Program Lead SAS Programmer where experience allows.

  • Work closely with statistics colleagues and the statistics group.

  • Can sign documents ('pp.') on behalf of Program Lead SAS Programmer in time of absence, where experience allows, or if individually authorised by a suitably experienced departmental personnel.

3.Detailed Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


  • Provides input into departmental processes, including standard working practices, operating procedures and implementation of CDISC.

  • Performs planning and setup of Biometrics projects.

  • Review and monitor data received from data management to ensure suitability for reporting.

  • Assist in design of study databases ensuring adherence to CDISC standards whilst creating databases that are amenable to processing within the Biometrics department either individually or as integrated summaries.

  • Provide technical support and input to programmers and programming tasks.

  • Programming of ad hoc queries on study databases to support data review.

  • Act as a SAS programming point of contact within an individual study.

  • Act as Lead SAS Programmer on clinical studies.

  • Review of deliverables from CROs, including review/validation of CDISC deliverables.

  • Perform quality control review of work completed by other members of the team.

  • Interact with other disciplines to ensure successful execution of studies.

  • Operates in accordance with the GW corporate values of being patient driven, passionate, innovative, collaborative, accountable, having integrity and achieving excellence

  • Works in accordance with the systems in place with regards to health & safety, security and the environment

4.Key attributes/skills/education:
Knowledge:


  • Familiar with data from clinical studies.

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and guidelines, e.g. ICH Guidelines.

  • Good working knowledge of SDTM and ADaM.


Experience:

  • Relevant CRO/Pharma experience.

  • Experience as programming lead.

  • Experience with oversight of CROs.


Skills:

  • Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Proficient in the use of computers and especially the Windows operating system and Microsoft products.

  • Proficient in the use of the SAS system, especially SAS Base; experience of the use of SAS/Graph and SAS/Stat would be an advantage.
