The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is looking for a Lead Project Manager for a temporary assignment (one year) here in our San Francisco headquarters. As a temporary employee of the Fed, you are salaried and benefited, and work directly for the Bank for a defined period of time. This position has potential to become full time/regular role after one year, or sooner.

You will apply your expertise in I&D best practices to help advise strategy locally at the SF Fed and nationally at other Federal Reserve Banks. Our ideal candidate has a strong project management skill set and has experience managing human resource related projects. You have experience with MS Project or similar tool and excel at creating a project timeline, identifying interdependencies and gently but firmly holding partners accountable for their deliverables. Ideally, you also have some passion and experience in the Inclusion and Diversity space.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Design, implement, evaluate, and audit project management processes and templates.
  • Function as lead consultant to project teams; provide guidance and support to junior project managers and/or project analysts, executives, and key partners.
  • Develop project plans that include all required artifacts and checkpoints, including financial and resource impact across functions/areas; review project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and allotment of available departmental resources to various project phases.
  • Manages the overall process of risk detection and appropriate risk response strategy.
  • Leads the formulation of solutions and process change recommendations; provides input and alternatives.
  • Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher maturity in project management capability.
  • Provide oversight and development of business requirements which align with the overall objectives and manage scope to plan.

Additional responsibilities:


  • May review/approve work plans of external service providers or consultancies contracted to execute project(s) and manage vendor or contractor relationships as necessary.
  • Manage the entire project life cycle of detailed project plans; develops and delegates project tasks including test plans and acceptance testing.
  • Schedule and conduct status meetings; facilitates meetings to achieve maximum output.
  • Ensure cross-project dependencies and resources are identified to establish priorities in project completion.
  • Lead project related communications including, but not limited to, standards, annual project prioritization documents, and executive status reporting.
  • Develop and provide status reports to partners.
  • Establish standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience; Master's specializing in business or project management preferred.
  • Typically has eight or more years of formal project management experience, including five or more years in diverse roles with increasing leadership responsibilities across major projects and programs.
  • Experience with multiple project/program management methodologies such as PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), agile and Managing Successful Programs (MSP).
  • A proven track record of managing successful programs across a range of project types using agile methodologies.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Business Process Improvement (BPI) certification strongly preferred.
