Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a Surgical Health Center Manager in San Bernardino, CA.

Responsible for implementing the Planned Parenthood Mission as it relates to outpatient surgical services, including surgical termination of pregnancy, hysteroscopy, LEEP and other outpatient surgical services as determined by the affiliate and the Medical Director in the Orange and San Bernardino County locations.   Will provide overall assessment, planning and implementation of patient care services in outpatient surgical care sites. Will assume responsibility for scheduling, quality monitoring, staff and patient satisfaction, and compliance with all outside regulatory bodies including Medi-cal, FPAC  and PPFA standards.

Responsibilities


  • Functions as the key surgical center leader and communicates regularly with the Medical Director and the Sr. Director of Patient Services.

  • Hold all clinical staff accountable to specific measurable customer service standards (e.g. through annual performance monitoring and implementing corrective action plans when customer service expectations are not being met.)

  • Lead health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity.

  • Lead health center efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals.

  • Responsible for effective communication and teamwork between all licensed staff, medical center support staff, and physicians.

  • Maintains current knowledge of, and keeps center compliant with, all regulatory and professional standards of care including CMS, PPFA, OSHA, CLIA and Board of Nursing standards.

  • Actively monitors quality and consistency of patient care, and works with the Medical Director, licensed staff and Patient Services leadership to establish best practices for patient care.

  • Conducts monthly meetings with entire surgical center team to address issues and problems, scheduling, goals, performance metric, learning and improvement opportunities. Holds regularly scheduled 1:1 meetings with all staff and performs annual performance reviews on all surgical center staff.

  • Hires, coaches and mentors all licensed and unlicensed staff including corrective actions and performance improvement plans when necessary.

  • Promotes an atmosphere of professionalism and empowerment of staff such that staff feels that they can provide open, honest feedback and positive, proactive solutions can be identified.

  • Works with the Medical Director and Patient Services leadership to understand and carryout the strategic direction (i.e. new services, new variations of scheduling to optimize patient throughput, new programs to increase conversion of surgical patients to Family Planning patients) for the surgical center.

  • Develops, prepares and monitors personnel, supply and equipment budgets. Maintains a consistent stock of supplies and ensures that all equipment is regularly serviced and in proper working condition.

  • Strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.

  • Ability to serve patients in a non-biased and professional manner.

  • Ability to work with multiple levels of staff including physicians, clinicians, RNs, and medical center support staff.

  • Ability to plan and strategize in order to improve patient throughput, increase service offerings to patients, and ensure high quality care is delivered.

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

  • This position requires an employee to have a valid CA driver’s license, a reliable means of transportation, and to carry current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of the California Vehicle Code.

  • CPR Certification a plus.


  • This position prefers bilingual Spanish skills (reading, writing, and speaking). Qualified candidates will be tested for proficiency prior to offer.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor of Science degree or demonstrated significant and relevant healthcare or surgical center management experience acceptable.

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience working in a surgical healthcare environment.

  • Must have three (3) to five (5) years of progressive management experience.
