Job Description & Responsibilities

As a Program Engineer, you will be a critical member of Persistent's Program Team based in Fort Collins, CO or our NYC Headquarters. You will support the definition of technical requirements for tactical programs such as Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), dismount, and other new programs involving Defense, Communications, Intelligence, Special Operations. You will also play a pivotal role in communicating technical challenges to our engineering department as you strive to solve problems. You will be integral in supporting program development as you will have insight into customer challenges and program needs and will work closely across the entire Persistent Systems team including Sales, Field Operations, Product Management, Engineering, and Quality.

Position Responsibilities


  • Collaborating with the Sales, Engineering and Field Operations teams to resolve technical issues escalated from customer locations, including integration of Persistent's products onto target platforms and architectures

  • Contributing to program effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-term issues; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; and recommending options and courses of actions

  • Build customer relationships with program clients through managing and interpreting their requirements and conveying progress to Management team

  • Developing technical portions of responses to RFI / RFP and other similar customer requirements

  • Maintaining expert knowledge of Persistent Systems products to evaluate and maintain program objectives

  • Working closely with Engineering by providing feedback from information gathered during program activities

  • Communicating Persistent Systems' solutions to technical and non-technical clients and end-users

  • Working directly with Persistent's delivered MANET equipment for use ranging from ground-based to airborne to subterranean, working with customers including Defense, Federal, other military / law enforcement, and commercial organizations


Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree, preferred disciplines in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science

  • Understanding of technical concepts such as wireless, mobile IP, RF propagation with an understanding of hardware and software concepts

  • Understanding of networking concepts such as IP routing and switching and VPN architectures

  • Proficiency in software packages such as Visio, Microsoft Office

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal

  • Must be available to travel up to 25% of the time

  • Ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance

  • 3 or more years of experience with Defense, Communications, Intelligence, Special Operations communication systems

  • Experience working directly with customers and end users


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or Master's degree in Business Administration

  • Experience with wireless concepts such as MANET, Mesh, Ad-hoc, protocols and web architecture, with an understanding of hardware and software concepts

  • Experience working with customer organizations such as large sized Government entities

  • Experience working with mid-size or larger Commercial organizations

  • DoD Information Operations and Cyber Security experience

  • Proficiency in advanced technical software packages such as Solidworks, and MATLAB

  • Experience with UGV and/or UAS platform programs from concept to delivery

  • Must possess an active Secret US Security Clearance
