The Need

After nearly two decades of continued growth and operational success in pioneering the work of protecting people from violence, IJM has become an $80 million organization with 1,000 global employees. As IJM continues this trajectory of growth and scaling of its impact, this Digital Strategy position will develop a cohesive digital marketing strategy that grows a global movement via paid and owned digital channels, including Leading in ownership, lead generation strategy, digital platform ownership and exploration, problem solving for digital execution capacity gaps and raising IJM’s mass and thought leadership awareness via digital channels for IJM North America. This position will be highly collaborative with the marketing, data, creative, programs, US and Canada teams to meet and exceed revenue and awareness goals.

This position is based in the Washington D.C. area and reports to the Regional Director, Marketing.


  • Manage and execute on paid digital media strategy in Canada and US

  • Manage the paid media budget

  • Lead program teams through paid media strategy for their projects

  • Work with Digital Marketing Director to develop 3-year paid media and lead generation strategy

  • Document and implement learnings to increase results per campaign

  • Document and distribute paid media policies for division

  • Communicate results and best practices for division regarding paid media

  • Alongside, Business Intelligence and Analytics team, implement and execute reporting and analytics for all paid media campaigns

  • Identify trends and innovate to rapidly increase results

  • Agilely monitor and adjust live campaigns

  • Work with team leads to ensure highest level of content and audience parameters

  • Create and distribute regular performance analysis and reports


  • Bachelor’s degree required;

  • 3+ years of professional digital marketing experience

  • 2+ years of experience working with digital or marketing teams

  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns with digital and social media components

  • Experience with Google AdWords and other paid media platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to meet demanding deadlines and manage tasks in a fast-paced work environment

  • Demonstrated capability for analysis, making data-driven decisions, and communicating results and recommendations

  • Understanding of metrics, analytics, reporting tools, and A/B testing

  • Experience with proofreading in a quick turnaround time

  • Experience with technical troubleshooting

  • Digital project management experience

  • Technical understanding of how to optimize and integrate web, mobile, social and search media to provide the optimal user experience
