Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Budget Manager in our Finance Department and will be based at our Irvine office.
*This position can also be based at our Headquarters in Walnut Creek, CA.
Manages, analyzes, and drives strategic insights for continuous process improvement and the comprehensive budgeting process. Establishes and continually enhances a system-driven budgeting approach including sophisticated rules/drivers, controls, governance, and a reporting/analytical framework. Interacts closely with executive management and business leaders to provide clear and insightful analysis of performance across time and against Budget in order to drive accountability and influence strategic decisions across the organization. Responsible for annual, intermediate, and long term financial projections to support strategic and long-range planning.
What you will do:
Leads preparation, analysis, and communication of comprehensive short-term and long-term financial forecasts and budgets.
Provides comprehensive visibility to monthly, quarterly, and annual performance, both financial and nonfinancial, in order to drive accountability throughout the organization
Leads forecasting/budgeting system administration including workflow scheduling/tracking, budget rules/assumptions, scenario applications, data capture, and scheduled batch reporting
Directly supervises employees while overseeing assigned function(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Bank's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Completes adhoc projects as requested from Finance/management
Who you are:
Master's Degree preferred
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Manager: Minimum 7 Years Technical Experience and Minimum 3 Years Leadership Experience
MBA in Finance preferred
CFA certification desired
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis techniques and processes
Knowledge of accounting principles and processes
Knowledge of banking terminology, asset and liability products and services, and financial data sources
Extensive knowledge of banking finance drivers
Creation and management of insightful communications that clearly articulate focused discussion of strategic business trends, related financials and business implications
Working knowledge of database structure, capabilities and practical application, specifically Essbase and Oracle Hyperion
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
Ability to communicate complex financial information within a simplified approach that captures key drivers and implications
Multiple years of direct managerial experience, which can include direct staff and efforts across diverse cross-functional groups
