Job Description
Reporting to Professor Jason Buenrostro, Dept of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University and Associate Member of the Broad Institute. The candidate will collaborate with a team of researchers (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research assistants) in the Buenrostro lab to develop and apply single-cell epigenomic methods in effort to better understand gene regulation dynamics within normal development and disease.
Specifically, the candidate will work directly with the PI to plan overall research goals, set timelines for ongoing projects in the lab, and independently execute research plans in collaboration with the lab personnel. The candidate will assess the broader goal of the lab - seeking to understand gene regulation in context of human diseases - and in collaboration with the PI and members of the lab design experimental approaches to address these questions. In this effort, the candidate my improve or design new single-cell sequencing based methods and work with members of the lab to determine driving mechanisms using cell culture and mouse models.
To accomplish these goals, an ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organization skills, as well as extensive experience with lab work in gene regulation and single-cell genomics.
Basic Qualifications: MS in developmental biology, genetics, biochemistry or related field and 5+ years of experience (including postdoctoral research) are required. Prior experience developing sequencing-based assays is required.
Additional Qualifications:
* Prior experience with single-cell genomics and associated data analysis methods
* Experience in maintaining mouse lines and familiarity with collecting samples
* Experience supervising and/or mentoring students
* Strong organizational and communication skills
* Ability to work with a multidisciplinary group of scientists in a dynamic team environment
