To assist Category Director in implementing vendor marketing and promotional programs that drive sales. To work with and educate Sales Reps and Customers on Category’s products that ultimately relates to increased sales within the category and promotes Customer goodwill.
KEYS:
100% remote position with travel required. 1-3 days a week, bi-weekly.
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v-look up, formulas) and PowerPoint (create and present slide decks)
Industry Expereince - multiple categories including: Fresh Meat, Seafood, Frozen Food, Speciality Meats, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Assist in the management of Customer’s co-op and Rebate Programs
Communicates competitive information to Division Managers, Category Directors and Sales Reps
Create informative Sale Sheets and maintains a library of appropriate data as related to their specific category
Coordinates Customer training, enlisting Vendors, Brokers, and Sales Reps as needed
Responses to requests from Division Managers, Category Directors, or Sales Rep to help with Sales presentations on new or current customers with potential sales
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, offer promotional opportunities, schematic suggestions and present new items.
Available for resets or Product Demonstrations
Prepares proposals to include pricing and assessments of customer needs including department schematics
Attends and educates & learns by attending Division Sales Meetings and various Trade Shows
Completes department projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High School graduate or equivalent
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
4-5 years of professional business experience in category
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of product specific to category including basic category operations
Ability to analyze customer department and determine sales opportunities
Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet, and Inventory Control Software
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Flexible in a changing environment
Self-motivated
Exceptional time management skills, problem solving skills, and written and verbal communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
