Job Description
The Blainey lab at the Broad Institute integrates molecular, optical and microfluidic technologies to robustly interrogate, characterize and manipulate biological systems. We aim to leverage droplet microfluidics, genome engineering, in situ methods, automated microscopy and computational approaches to study microbial systems, infectious disease, host immunology, cancer and neurobiology. With this position, we are looking for an applicant with a passion for interdisciplinary science and technology development who will enjoy working in a dynamic, highly collaborative environment to apply a novel droplet microfluidic platform for the discovery of efficacious antibiotic-compound combinations against ESKAPE pathogens. The candidate will work with members of the Blainey lab as well as collaborators in partner labs within the Broad Institute and at Tufts University:
Assist with microfluidic device fabrication, fluorescence color code preparation, microscopy setup, and data analysis
Leveraging the kchip platform to screen novel compound libraries in combination with existing drugs against ESKAPE pathogens
Analysis of data from high throughput screening to identify combination hits
Rigorously document experiments and results
Collaborate with labs at the Broad and partner institutions (MIT, Harvard and affiliated hospitals)
Disseminate technologies through protocols and trainings
Communicate results through posters and oral presentations
Contribute to lab organization, technology development, and written publications
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
