As a Senior Systems Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for delivering custom control solutions for a wide variety of applications. This includes the development of controls algorithms for a variety of products, as well as the development of the required embedded control and communication software, desktop tools, and interfacing with sensors and actuators. Some of the specific duties and responsibilities would include:
Specifications development, systems analysis, modeling, simulation and implementation (applications include passenger car, heavy-duty and hybrid vehicles, as well as renewable energy and energy storage systems
Working on multiple projects within project constraints, including scope and timing, to deliver engineering work according to company, client, and program management requirements
Mentoring junior team members as needed on programs
The skills, knowledge, and abilities we look for in our Senior Systems Engineers include:
A Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
Seven or more years’ experience developing automotive or industrial embedded control systems
A strong background in a majority of the following:
Full V-cycle development experience from requirements to acceptance testing
Vehicle control systems development and calibration
Software process knowledge/experience (e.g., AUTOSAR and automotive SPICE)
Controls and model-based development with rapid prototyping tools (MATLAB/Simulink. RTW, dSPACE, MicroAutoBox, TargetLink, MotoTron, MotoHawk)
Model-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and software-in-the-loop simulation, testing, and validation of automotive ECUs
Experience with and a specialization in one or more of the following:
Various types of automatic transmissions (AMT, DCT, planetary), transmission shift control, and clutch control
Hybrid vehicle systems
Energy storage systems, battery management systems
Electric motor operation and control
Active Safety Systems
Vehicle dynamics modeling
J1939 and other CAN protocols
OBDII diagnostics
A demonstrated ability to effectively multitask
Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
Strong problem solving, analytical, and listening skills (familiarity with 8D or equivalent process highly desirable)
The ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
