Job Title: Corporate Accounting Manager Department: Corporate Accounting Supervisor: VP, Corporate Controller Status: Exempt JOB SUMMARY: In conjunction with the corporate accounting group, this position is responsible for assisting the Corporate Controller with the monthly reporting for the corporate entities, annual budget preparation and communications, and working with our external auditors to draft financial statements and footnotes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by Harbor Group Management.
Assist Corporate Controller in the preparation of GAAP statements when needed: Consolidate individual trial balances into statements when appropriate; create cash flow statements; format balance sheets and income statements; draft footnotes; and, assist outside CPA firms in the research and resolution of accounting and audit related issues
Maintain GP loan schedule
Review GP monthly bank reconciliations
Manage distribution check process for certain entities
Participate in internal corporate package preparation
Provide guidance to Corporate Staff Accountant in resolving more complicated issues
Participate in corporate budget process
Work on various special projects
Assist with accounting for the hedge fund entities

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree, a plus
CPA required
5-7 years in public accounting, or 3-5 years in public and 2-3 years in private industry; heavy experience in preparing financial statements required
Good organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task under tight deadlines, and in a fast-paced environment
Very strong Microsoft Office skills, along with the technical aptitude to learn MRI and Yardi accounting systems
Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to assimilate and summarize large quantities of data precisely and succinctly
