What the Data Platform Team Does...

The Data Streaming Platform team plays a vital role in supporting applications using SQL Server and other data platforms to meet the needs of the Firm.

The Data Streaming Platform team is responsible for SQL database server configuration, database support for application upgrades, performance tuning, application onboarding, and any work related to the use of open systems database platforms such as SQL Server.  We monitor and ensure database availability and address system issues in a timely manner.
 
Responsibilities for this position include design, development, implementation, documentation, and support for applications on SQL Server databases, ensuring acceptable database availability, and performance. Test and troubleshoot production issues for existing databases and establish new database use, recommending changes to developers under minimal direction. Address any security concerns.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.


• Minimum of 5 years of experience with SQL Server 2008 and newer.


• Looking for Strong SQL server DBA with knowledge or passion to learn cloud-based database platforms such as Azure, Atlas, AWS.
  


• Minimum of 5 years of experience with one or more of the following

• Database tools, such as: SQL Developer, PowerShell, Toad, SQL Server Management Studio, Foglight database monitoring tool and ERWIN Data Modeler


• Physical and logical replication, examples include: HUR, Trans log shipping or Data Mirroring or Always on groups.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with more than one of the following: Linux, current release of PL/SQL, T-SQL, ASM, MS Windows, SQL Server (2008 and up), tuning, replication, data modeling, development life cycle methodologies.


• Solid knowledge of SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), SQL Server Report Server and Power Shell scripting for automation.


• Proven ability to leverage Powershell or similar for automation of repetitive tasks


• Knowledge about NoSQL databases like MongoDB, etc. a plus


• Knowledge of DBaaS, cloud technology a plus.


• Knowledge of DevOps for Database a plus along with experience using Jira


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills


• Ability to make or review decisions on problems with high visibility, and high risk to the firm


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues in business terms


• Excellent relationship-management, organizational, communication, time management and interpersonal skills


• Ability to work in both a team environment and as an individual contributor


• Provide feedback on peers to the leaders
