Garmin is hiring a Director of IT Operations for our office in Olathe. Aligns and directs Garmin’s Information Technology function to a singular vision for the execution of the Information Technology Operations function, including Garmin’s Global IT Operations Center, alignment with service and operational teams embedded in Garmin’s business, the development and adherence to Operational Policies and Processes, as well as IT & Security budget management.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Plans and directs all facets of the Information Technology Operations Center, including development of and adherence to policies and processes required to supported Garmin’s technology teams.  

  • Coordinates and aligns embedded operational technology teams with in IT and Garmin’s business to drive consistency in operational processes, that are scalable to serve Garmin’s current and future business needs.   

  • Challenge legacy processes and organizational norms to proactively drive to increased capability and maturity levels of operational processes.  

  • Responsible for Garmin’s Global Hardware and Digital Asset Management program, including related global policies and processes.  

  • Accountable to manage IT & Security financial operations, including quarterly and annual budgeting 

  • Accountable for delivery of monthly, annual and ad hoc IT & Security Financial reporting.  

  • Collaborate across leadership in IT, Security and across Garmin’s business to ensure required technologies for the IT Operations functions are monitored and delivered effectively. 

  • Focus on continuous improvements designed to make Garmin better every day. 

  • Foster relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders and strategic technology partners.

  • Ensure controls are adequately maintained to keep Garmin systems effective and meet and policy and/or regulatory requirements of the IT Operations functions.

  • Partner with other internal stakeholders to develop strategic plans for the ongoing sustenance of Garmin’s information systems and technologies. 

  • Plan resource requirements, participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance

  • Build healthy relationships within and across teams – locally, regionally and across the global Garmin business

  • Drive improvements in incident management processes including incident ownership, problem resolution, stakeholder communications, irreversible corrective actions, etc.

  • Provide thought leadership and vision for IT Operations Center of Excellence.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop staffing capacity plans, recruit and build a team focused on excellence.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Monitor changes in the industry to advise on standards and best practices.

  • Develop team member effectiveness by identifying and executing specific training plans for personal growth and development of each team member, including annual performance appraisals.

  • Demonstrate responsibility for ongoing personal development, professional growth and continuing education.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:



  • Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Management Information System, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical or business field.




  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years work experience as a Garmin International Information Technology Leader OR a minimum of 10 years leadership experience as a leader or manager performing duties substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description.



  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others.

  • Must possess the ability to effectively manage technical human resources.

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies.
