Job Description:

The Portfolio Banker (PB) is responsible for the development, maintenance and cross-selling of overall client relationships of a defined group of client relationships, including those with both credit and non-credit exposures. In this role you will interact and liaison with other areas of the organization including commercial bankers, treasury management officers, key product partners, credit underwriters, Anti Money Laundering (AML)/Know Your Customer (KYC) officers, and client service professionals (CSP). The Portfolio Banker does not have primary new client development responsibilities but focuses on deepening existing client relationships with the objective of converting all clients to fulsome relationships.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for overall and on-going client relationship management and responsiveness, including client meetings with the treasury and finance staff at the company
  • The Portfolio Banker will also have responsibility for annual coverage review of product sets and delivering the products and services of the firm to clients to identify opportunities to deliver the firm's full suite of products and services
  • The Portfolio Banker will have regular client calling requirements which also includes building a robust pipeline of cross sell opportunities.
  • Daily engagement, utilization, and maintenance of Sales Force for all client related activities, campaigns, initiatives and events, including pipeline and opportunity management
  • Creation and build-out of a modest prospecting list and effort
  • Full knowledge and coverage of clients from an AML and reputational risk perspective, with a focus on the client's business, management team, strategy, product usage and account activity.
  • Timely completion of all AML/KYC due diligence; includes the dynamic updates to Due Diligence Forms that reflect true relationship knowledge
  • Responsible for the oversight, escalation and resolution of any AML-identified compliance issues, as well as any reputational or negative media issues, in coordination with Middle Market banking management and the appropriate escalation forum
  • Process all credit requests, including requests for amendments and waivers, in coordination with the credit underwriters. Work with our service organization (either locally or through the national service center) to resolve service-related incidents in the portfolio
  • In conjunction with the CSP, be responsible of ensuring client operational needs are serviced in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Coordinate, as appropriate, client account exits and engage the appropriate processes with the Commercial Bank Escalation and Client Service exit teams. The Portfolio Banker should work diligently to identify opportunities for current accounts as well as identify accounts that are not appropriate for coverage

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • At least 5 years of relationship management (including sales), credit underwriting experience or equivalent experience. Previous treasury and client service experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong client-facing skills; Polished, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Strong investigatory, due diligence and risk analysis skills
  • Able to present risk issues in a succinct and cogent manner to senior leaders
  • Familiarity with complex client organization structures highly desirable
  • Diligent, detail-oriented and thorough
  • Persistent and willing to follow through to resolve and document issues appropriately and in a manner in keeping with sound risk management practices
  • Able to work independently, multi-task and handle a sizeable account load
