Louis Berger Services is currently looking for a full-time Community Relations and Outreach Specialist responsible for actively engaging, coordinating and communicating with community stakeholders in the Sarasota County area. The position will promote stakeholder awareness and ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction associated with roadway operations and maintenance projects with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in District 1 (D-1). This position is located in Sarasota, FL.

*This position is contingent upon award of contract and will not start until Q-4.*
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan and community engagement program to interact with community stakeholders impacted by transportation operations, maintenance and construction.
Attend, plan, host and facilitate public and community outreach events through virtual meetings and in person meetings and community pop-up events.
Develop working relationships with local entities such as, but not limited to, state government and local municipalities, county commissioners, community outreach groups, traffic safety teams, elected officials, public information officers, public interest groups, local residents and citizens, stakeholder constituents and other agency outreach specialists.
Serve as key member of project management team and keep project manager, employees and client personnel informed of activities.
Coordinate and integrate stakeholder activities into project management teams' broader responsibilities and operational activities.
Develop and distribute a variety of communication documents and delivery methods to engage diverse stakeholder population.
Qualifications
Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, community engagement position.
Bachelor's degree with a focus on marketing or communications strongly preferred.
Knowledge and relationships with local municipalities and other public and private stakeholders in Sarasota County area strongly preferred.
Thorough understanding of multiple forms of communication to include television, radio, social media and government communications.
Ability to manage multiple work-streams, stakeholders, customers, and client expectations.
Knowledge of FDOT current policies and procedures a plus.
Must be self-motivated and team player
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, preferably in both English and Spanish.
