Job Summary

The Social Impact Coordinator will report to the Social Impact Program Manager and will assist in the company's efforts to become a model for being a socially responsible health insurer. The Corporate Citizenship team develops and implements several key programs such as the BlueSky statewide signature initiative (supporting youth mental health; visit BlueSky from Blue Shield of California), corporate community investments and sponsorships, employee engagement (volunteering, charitable giving), and environmental sustainability. Across all programs, the company and team are focused on highlighting and addressing issues of social justice, including the challenges of racial inequity, opportunity gaps, and the social determinants of health. The Social Impact Coordinator will operate cross-functionally with many different departments within the company, most frequently with colleagues in External Affairs, Internal Communications, Human Resources and Brand. In addition, this position will coordinate with a number of community organizations who are seeking sponsorship.








Knowledge and Experience



  • Sponsorship Administration: administer the company's corporate giving scorecard evaluations and sponsorships including communicating with organizations, completing ads, filling tables and corresponding with internal teams.


  • Corporate Giving Administration: support the implementation of the company's community investments including attending meetings with local and statewide nonprofit organizations, developing program materials and supporting contracting, planning and program evaluation.


  • BlueSky Initiative: support the development of youth mental health program resources for parents, educators and youth.Collaborate on internal and external initiatives and events such as mental health awareness programs or employee volunteer and education events.


  • Data Administration: maintain data and materials for corporate giving and BlueSky including database entry, keeping nonprofit contacts, creating giving reports in Salesforce and maintaining internal website and program materials.


  • Communications: collaborate with Corporate and Internal Communications to support storytelling on social impact initiatives.


  • Teamwork: serve as a collaborator withina high-performing team, focusing on positive teamwork, professional development, and creating a great place to work.

  • Possesses a bachelor's degree or equivalent 5 years of experience withrelevant cross-functional, cross disciplinary experience or an equivalent of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with project coordination preferably in a corporate or philanthropic setting.

  • Communicates a strong personal belief that citizenship can make a difference for the company and society.

  • Expresses a strong interest in social and health equity issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational and project skills.

  • Demonstrates a consistently positive attitude and commitment to their work.

  • Demonstrates ability to build rapport with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders by genuinely listening to and understanding their perspectives.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across business units.

  • Is able to deliver under tight deadlines and is energized by the opportunity to solve problems.
