Children’s Clinics is seeking a Full-Time Pediatric Physical Therapist (PT).


As a member of the Rehabilitative Therapies Services team the PT will join a strong transdisciplinary team serving a diverse patient population consisting primarily of children with complex medical needs, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, downs syndrome, neuromuscular disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and pediatric orthopedic conditions.  Experience with spasticity management (Botox, Baclofen, and intrathecal Baclofen pump), serial casting, durable medical equipment, adaptive equipment, and both pediatric orthopedic and developmental treatment preferred.   The PT participates in multi-disciplinary patient care planning and staff/parent education and may participate in wheelchair evaluations and modifications, adaptive equipment evaluations and fittings, and pediatric orthopedic clinics.     

 Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in AZ.  Must have graduated from an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral level physical therapy program and have a current BLS certification.  Minimum two years’ experience with pediatric populations with very complex medical needs.  Experience with Electronic Medical Records and training in recommending use of durable medical equipment preferred.  Manual therapy, Pediatric (young adult) Orthopedic skills, exercise training, bilingual (English/Spanish) and telehealth experience a plus.

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive physical therapy assessment, treatment, consultation and coordination to Children’s Clinics eligible patients.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides land and water based physical therapy evaluation, treatment, consultation, and care coordination for pediatric and adult patients with neurological, cardiovascular, sensory, and orthopedic impairments.

Conducts age-appropriate clinical and functional physical therapy assessments. Develops therapy treatment plans based upon assessment findings and patient/family input.

Provides advanced level-direct patient treatment, according to treatment plan, updating treatment plan according to patient progress and established policies.

Conducts, upon referral evaluations, fittings, and modifications of bracing; adaptive equipment and DME; wheelchairs.  Submits order requests for, braces, adaptive equipment and DMEs, and wheelchairs including letters of medical necessity. Provides appropriate patient training and education in use recommended equipment and supplies.

Documents assessments, treatments, consultations, patient/family education, and all relevant and required patients care information in the electronic health record in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with clinic policies.

Provides physical therapy consultation to assigned interdisciplinary specialty clinics.

Serves as educator in appropriate areas to patients, families, clinic staff, school staff, and others involved in patient care and programming.

Supervises support personnel in accordance to APTA and Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy guidelines.

Participates in new staff orientation and ongoing staff education; and as requested by Department Manager, mentors and provides education on areas of expertise.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic treatment techniques for pediatric physical therapy.

Knowledge of child development as is applicable to the field of physical therapy.

Knowledge of fundamentals of pediatric bracing and ability to assess patient’s bracing needs independently as part of an interdisciplinary team (physician, orthotist, and therapist).

Knowledge of evidence-based approaches to planning and providing pediatric physical therapy; experience in measuring and reporting clinical and functional outcomes of care to parents, physicians, and other professionals.

Knowledge of corporate, local, state, and national regulatory requirements and ability to execute job duties consistent with them.

Knowledge of seating and positioning fundamentals and mobility equipment.

Skill in communicating with staff and physicians involved in care, to ensure quality patient outcomes.

Ability to safely and effectively use electro-physiological or mechanical equipment for the provision of physical therapy care.

Ability to fabricate and modify lower extremity splints and serial casts,; and  educate patient and family in proper splint/cast care and use.  Ability to safely remove fiberglass casts using the cast saw.

Ability to operate personal computer and related office equipment as needed to perform job function.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from accredited college/university required

 Experience: 

Two years related pediatric experience preferred

 Licenses and Certificates:

Physical Therapy (PT) license from the Arizona Board of PT Examiners required

AHCCCS Provider Identification Number required, may be obtained upon hire

BLS certification required

 FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE
