Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Controls Engineer for Construction & Forestry (C&F) in Dubuque, IA, you will take the lead on enabling the manufacturing controls foundation by growing manufacturing technologies in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT), Device Management & Security functional areas leveraging advanced connectivity, communications, and network segmentation strategy between shop floor devices and the development and integration of future devices. In addition, you will:


  • Plan, coordinate, and perform manufacturing engineering work for a project or process
  • Operate in a team environment within either the enterprise product delivery process or the enterprise order fulfilment process
  • Provide daily support for urgent production issues, including root cause analysis and resolution

What Skills You Need


  • 3 or more years' experience in manufacturing engineering (understanding of typical factory processes - Assembly, Weld, Material Handling, Robotics, etc.), factory automation, or Information Technology
  • 3 or more years' of working knowledge and experience of PLC programming (Allen Bradley)
  • 2 or more years' of device connectivity, networking, security protocols, industrial communication protocols (OPC, OPCUA, MQTT, ModBus, RFID) background and experience
  • 1 or more years' of experience in automating tasks and processes
  • Expert level understanding and experience with data visualization tools (Power-Bi, Tableau, Factory Talk etc)
  • 1 or more years' of experience with using foundational systems MPM, MES, ERP
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestic and internationally
  • Ability to work off-shift hours to support business needs

  • Ability to solve complex problems, conduct research/break new ground, develop new applications, and provide expert support for other practitioners
  • Ability to Think Beyond Current State (Adapting emerging technologies and deployment plans for factories)
  • Understanding of IoT technologies, devices, and cloud platforms, (AWS and/or Azure)
  • Understanding of software programming (python, C, C++), solutions design and basic knowledge architecture principles & connectivity protocols /various connectivity ex: - Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 5G

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
