About the Opportunity

Our System and Agency Services (SAS) department supports the Wholesale Product Office (WPO), Subcommittee on Credit Risk Management (SCRM), and select government agencies by providing business application support, business analysis, customer support, customer testing support, project management, and subject matter expertise, to ensure business functionality and operational resilience.

SAS is responsible for responsible for external customer onboarding, extensive integration and application testing, business application support, and Fedwire DI Testing environment operations. We ensure customers go through a rigorous testing process to successfully transact with Funds, Securities and Settlement services.

Our SAS team has an immediate opening for an Application Support Specialist (Intermediate or Senior level), primarily supporting Fedwire Operations (WPO) in System and Agency Services (SAS) department of Richmond Fed.

The schedule for this position will be Tuesday - Saturday (Day Shift). Onsite work will be required, but there will flexibility for remote/alternate working arrangements depending on the banks and business lines pandemic posture and business requirements.

What You Will Do:


  • Monitor the Fedwire Applications in the DIT environment, including the completion of the daily checklist of activities which are critical in meeting the service availability target for customer processing.

  • Actively identify and resolve issues, share operation activity, and escalate to senior management.

  • Develop test plans and test scripts for internal and customer testing.

  • Coordinate testing and other activities with customers as needed.

  • Provide guidance and training to customers and internal teams as needed.

  • Contribute to analysis and reporting on DIT problems and operational issues.

  • Assist with projects, work group initiatives, and develop operational/technical procedures.

  • Contribute and / or lead team activities including scheduling, mailbox monitoring, customer support voice lines and other activities.

  • Contribute and / or lead automation of procedures and processes.

  • Contribute and / or lead continuous improvement and process improvement efforts and initiatives.

  • Develop and contribute to documentation for teams and departments.

  • Support customer testing and disaster recovery/contingency testing.

  • Stay abreast with all Federal Reserve Bank policies and initiatives.

Qualifications:


  • Associates degree in business or computer technology, or equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
  • At least three years of experience in technical operations, including technical customer service.
  • Base knowledge of critical production environments and payment systems. Knowledge of Fedwire® business is highly desirable.
  • Experience with distributed computer processes and environments. Knowledge of distributed components such as UNIX, SQL, and WebSphere are extremely desirable with capability and desire to expand expertise.
  • Experience with monitoring, automation and other tools to support applications and environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to think clearly and remain calm when confronted with critical production issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate and share production operation activity and business status with area management and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency using standard business applications and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of staff and management and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.

The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.   • The schedule for this position will be Monday - Thursday (Day Shift).

  • The hiring range for the Application Support Specialist- Intermediate is $45,800 - $57,300 annually.

  • The hiring range for the Application Support Specialist- Senior is $57,000 - $71,300 annually.

  • Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications/experience.
