Job Description:

We are looking for a highly driven, talented Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Site Transfer Team in the Manufacturing Technical Operations (MTO) department. The MTO group works as an integral part of our Consumables Development, Transfer and Manufacturing process and is tasked with the transfer of new manufacturing capability from our San Diego headquarters to other manufacturing facilities around the globe.

In this role, the individual will use sound and proven engineering principles, best practices and concepts in order to assist in transferring on-market production processes and requirements between manufacturing facilities. The individual will be an integral member of core teams, or serve as an extended team member, and provide the technical leadership for new product introduction and manufacturing site transfer. Additionally, s/he will partner cross-functionally with Process Development, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Contract Manufacturers and other internal engineering groups to transfer on-market products.

Responsibilities:


  • Plan, develop and execute manufacturing site transfer projects that enable new production capabilities or transfer existing manufacturing capabilities from one plant to another.

  • Support business relationships with other Company sites and contract manufacturers (CMOs) that are responsible for manufacturing Company’s consumable products

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with all internal and external stakeholders and lead discussions, problem solving efforts, and process improvements to ensure site transfer projects meet or exceed delivery expectations.

Requirements:


  • Work experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or chemical industries is desirable.

  • Scientific or engineering experience with molecular diagnostic or next generation sequencing formulation and filling processes.

  • Experience with process transfer, product transfer, manufacturing site transfer, contract manufacturing or new product introduction activities.

  • Experience with product development processes and project management is a plus.

  • Good interdepartmental communication skills, presentation skills and documentation skills are required

  • Create transfer plans, protocols and reports for product, process, equipment and software transfer activities.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve process, biochemical, automation and instrumentation problems

  • Ability to evaluate new automation technologies/platforms to support new transfers.

  • Periodic travel will be required to fulfill role responsibilities.

Education:


  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Bioengineering, or similar discipline is preferred

  • B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Bioengineering, or similar discipline with 1-3+ years of relevant experience in production support/sustaining and/or process definition and development, design, scale-up, improvement, manufacturing site transfer, new product introduction and validation
