Credit Suisse's Credit Risk IB Team (also referred to as Credit Risk Management or "CRM") partners with key business partners throughout the Bank to meet business demands and an evolving regulatory environment in the US. The team establishes internal credit ratings and counterparty limits for the portfolio. CRM's directive is two-fold (1) Loan Underwriting / Transaction Approval: Initial review and approval of loan and traded product exposure (2) Portfolio Management: Ongoing monitoring (quarterly / annually) of loan and traded product exposure on CS's books

The Credit Risk IB Corporates Team is seeking an Analyst - AVP candidate to support our Portfolio Monitoring function in Raleigh, NC. Portfolio Management Analysts and AVPs are responsible for providing coverage of an assigned portfolio and completing a variety of other portfolio management results primary responsibilities includes:


  • Focus on analyzing the ongoing creditworthiness of businesses in traditional corporate industries including retail, industrials, TMT, oil & gas, and healthcare (among others)
  • Day-to-day tasks include listening to investor earnings calls, modeling / projecting future cash flows, and traditional valuation work
  • Credits are often "storied" with high degree of complexity therefore attention to detail is required
  • Deals are rarely "plain vanilla", creating learning environment for analysts new to the industry which requires qualities of a fast learner. Leading all aspects of and performing comprehensive financial and mathematical modeling and analysis to complete reviews for assigned coverage.
  • Present credit updates to team leads, senior management, and other department review forums. Coordinate review scheduling and ensure compliance with internal/regulatory requirements.
  • Handle preparation of regular and ad-hoc portfolio management reports.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant work experience in a credit portfolio management or loan underwriting role at a regulated bank is preferred.
  • Interact and build links with people of varying seniority and across multiple geographic locations.
  • Ability to communicate optimally at all levels and confident making pitches in front of groups of varying size and seniority.
  • For AVP candidates: Detailed understanding of credit analysis, including industry and business analysis, financial modeling, and understanding of capital structure and loan /bond documentation.
